Dua When Leaving Home

Dua When Leaving Home

Bismillāhi walajnā, wa bismillāhi kharajnā, wa ‘alallāhi rabbinā tawakkalnā

“In the name of Allah we enter, and in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we place our trust.”

📖 Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2707 (graded authentic)
Reflections & teaching moments
Ustadh Ahmed: At what moment should a child recite this dua, and why is it special?
Parent: Just before stepping out of the house. It combines seeking Allah’s name for protection and declaring tawakkul (trust). It teaches children that Allah is with them outside.
Parent: Should we recite it even if we go out multiple times a day?
Ustadh: Absolutely. Every exit is a fresh opportunity for barakah. The Prophet ﷺ taught this to remind us constantly of Allah. Repetition builds mindfulness.
Teacher: How can we make this dua stick with young ones?
Mom of three: We practice with a little tune (without music) and point to the door. Also we printed the arabic in primary color #36467C and put it near the door. They love the ‘trust’ part.
Parent: What if someone forgets? Is the dua still valid?
Teacher: The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘My Ummah is forgiven for mistakes and forgetfulness.’ But training the tongue is a blessing. Gently remind each other.

“place your trust” — do you feel that trust today?

✨ Tawakkul means your heart relies on Allah while you tie your camel.
