Dua for Success in Life

The most powerful supplication for Falah (success) – rooted in Qur'an and Sunnah.

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا مُفْلِحِينَ Allahumma-j'alna muflihin
MEANING & IMPACT
“O Allah, make us among the successful people.” This concise dua encapsulates the desire for success in this world and the Hereafter. The term muflihin implies prosperity, victory, and achieving goals with divine blessing.

What does 'muflihin' truly mean?

In Arabic, muflih comes from falah – everlasting success, well-being, and triumph. Unlike temporary win, falah includes spiritual success, prosperity in deeds, and paradise. The dua asks Allah to enroll us among those who achieve falah in every aspect: family, career, and akhirah. It's a comprehensive request that covers both material and eternal success.

Rooted in the Qur'an

The root f-l-h appears scores of times. Allah describes the believers as Al-Muflihun (Qur'an 23:1-11). Making this dua is a way to align with the Quranic vision of success. The Prophet ﷺ often supplicated for falah in his morning and evening adhkar. It's a sunnah to ask Allah to be among those who succeed in His sight.

Weave it into your routine

Repeat Allahumma-j'alna muflihin after every salah, especially fajr. Use it while making dua for your children, business, or studies. It's a short, powerful phrase that fills the heart with tawakkul. Combine with sadaqah and good character to manifest success.

❓ teacher & parent conversation

Q TEACHER How can we teach this dua to children?
PARENT We use repetition and link it to their little goals – “Let's ask Allah to make us successful in our test, or in being kind.” I print the Arabic in primary color and let them colour the words with secondary highlighter. They love the meaning “make us successful” – it’s empowering.
Q PARENT Will this dua bring success in exams and work?
TEACHER Absolutely. Success (falah) includes dunya and akhirah. But we must combine it with effort. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Strive for what benefits you and seek help from Allah.” This dua invites divine assistance while we work hard. Many parents reported their children felt more focused after making it together.
Q TEACHER How often should a family recite it?
PARENT We say it as a family right after maghrib, and before leaving the house. My little ones now whisper it before a spelling test. It becomes a success mindset. The more sincerity, the more barakah.
Q PARENT Any specific etiquettes for this dua?
TEACHER Facing qiblah, with wudu, raising hands softly. But the greatest etiquette is a present heart and certainty that Allah responds. You can also recite rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah alongside – it complements the meaning of falah.
